Cultural Immersion in Palestine

Taking place in the city of Hebron, West Bank, you will not only be immersed in Palestinian culture, politics, and daily life, but you will also have the opportunity to gain exposure to the current human rights conditions of Palestinian refugees by visiting local refugee camps and Palestinian villages. Furthermore, visits and tours to different Palestinian universities, Bedouin areas, and local families are organized as part of the program to help engage and immerse you wholeheartedly.

By touring Palestinian refugee camps and neighboring communities, students will be immersed in Palestinian culture, politics, and daily life. They will also have the chance to learn about the present human rights situation of Palestinian refugees. The curriculum includes visits and trips to several Palestinian colleges, Bedouin regions, and local people in the city of Hebron, West Bank, Palestine.

From June to Late September

The Summer Arabic program in Hebron, Palestine is an immersive language learning experience that will take place from June to late September. This program offers participants the unique opportunity to learn Arabic in an authentic and immersive environment, while also experiencing the rich culture and history of Palestine.

Arabic Summer Immersion Program is designed to be flexible, allowing participants to choose when they would like to participate. Starting on the 1st day of each month (June, July, August, and September), there are three 4-week sessions available. This means that if you desire, you can spend up to three months living and studying Arabic with us here at Study Arabic Language.

A Complete Arabic Immersion Experience

The Arabic Summer Immersion Program offered by Study Arabic Language aims to enhance your relationship with the Arabic language through comprehensive immersion in Palestinian life and culture.

For this reason, summer intensive Arabic classes are taught fully in Arabic, and students are invited to engage in cultural events and site visits organized by the center. This allows you to practice your language abilities in natural situations while also connecting with the local people in Hebron, West Bank, and Palestine.

A small Group Setting

Our summer intensive programs in Hebron, West Bank, Palestine are provided in small group settings made up of 2-5 students to ensure the quality of the course and to give each student the chance to speak, discuss, participate, and develop their language skills to their fullest.

Additionally, it will give you the chance to get the full attention of our highly qualified and experienced Arabic teachers who have studied and attended events both nationally and internationally.

Living with a Palestinian Host Family

As part of our summer Arabic program, you will be offered accommodation with a local Palestinian host family for the duration of your study in Hebron, giving you plenty of opportunities to practice your Arabic with local Palestinian people including women, children, youth, and local community members. You may even get the chance to attend weddings and other cultural events with your host family.   

Moreover, the intensive Arabic coursework combined with the daily interactions with the Palestinian host family will help you increase your Arabic proficiency within a short period, regardless of the level you are studying at.

Eligibility

This Arabic Summer Immersion Program in Hebron, Palestine is open to students, undergraduates, graduates, retirees, Arabic learners, and mature students with an academic background. However, English-language fluency is also required and you must be between 16-70 years old to apply.

Language Proficiency Level

We offer a full Arabic curriculum, (with books and all course materials included), at six different levels to accommodate students of all language experiences and proficiencies including:

  • Starter Arabic Courses

For those who do not have any prior knowledge of the Arabic language and would like to start with learning the alphabet, this course will allow you to gain fundamental skills in reading and writing Arabic as well as understanding and engaging in simple, daily conversations.

  • Beginner Arabic Courses

The beginner Arabic courses are offered at two levels: Beginner I and Beginner II. These Arabic lessons are designed for participants who already have a basic knowledge of Arabic and would like to develop their speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills.

  • Intermediate Arabic Courses

The intermediate Arabic courses are also offered at two levels: Intermediate I and Intermediate II. Typically, these lessons provide you with the opportunity for Arabic conversations with native speakers to improve your conversational and colloquial skills. Moreover, we focus on further improving your reading, writing, and listening abilities.

  • Advanced Arabic Courses

At this level, you will concentrate on refining and perfecting your speaking and writing skills by learning sophisticated and technical vocabulary for use in most topics and discussions.

Can I Add More Arabic Hours to My Study Program?

Of course! Students in all of our Arabic Summer Immersion Program are free to add additional Arabic language hours. Each hour costs 25 euros.

How to Fly to Palestine?

The easiest way to get to Study Arabic Language is to fly to:

Alternatively:

  • Flying to Eilat airport in the south of Israel and then traveling by shuttle or by taking a bus to Jerusalem and then to Hebron. However, the duration of the trip can last between six and seven hours.
  • Flying to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Jordan, and then crossing the border to Palestine. However, this takes more time and is more expensive.

How Do I Get a Visa to Visit Palestine?

Most of our international participants get a tourist visa for three months when they fly to Israeli airports or cross from Jordan to the West Bank.

Generally, no prior visa is needed for Americans, Canadians, and most Europeans to enter Palestine. However, please refer to the visa exemption agreement for further information. Upon your arrival at the Israeli Airports in Tel Aviv or Eilat, you will acquire a tourist visa that is valid for 90 days. This is sufficient for participation in Study Arabic Language’s programs and to enable you to travel around Palestine and Israel easily.

Are you arriving at Ben Gurion Airport? Study Arabic Language can arrange a cab to take you straight to Hebron and the Center. This is the easiest and fastest way (about an hour, 60 km/37 miles) to get to us.
